Kongeparken Opens Interactive Traffic School for Children

(eap) The Norwegian theme park Kongeparken opened a new attraction aimed at young visitors last weekend: In “Brumle og Naffens Trafikkskole”, children up to 150 centimetres tall can playfully learn the basics of road traffic and receive their own “driver’s license” at the end.

Before the young drivers get behind the wheel of one of the twelve electric cars or eight electric trucks, they are prepared for their journey in an interactive pre-show. In this briefing, the park mascots Brumle and Naffen guide them through the basic traffic rules in a child-friendly way. Afterwards, the children are taken to the themed course, which has been set up as a miniature city with traffic signs, traffic lights, traffic circles and junctions. At the end of the ride, participants can collect their driving license from a kiosk at the exit. Seating is available for parents along the route, while a sand play area with mini-excavators is available for younger siblings.

“There was already a similar attraction in Kongeparken in the 1980s,” says Vibeke Fjordbakk, Managing Director of Kongeparken. “We are proud to revive a classic that many of our visitors remember from their own childhood in an updated and sustainable version”, says Fjordbakk.

The project was developed in collaboration with the Dutch Leisure Expert Group. The cars, which run on electricity, were supplied by Swedish manufacturer SBI. “It was a fun project where we worked closely with Kongeparken to develop cars and decorations tailored to the theme and the partners involved. We are sure that the children will love these cars,” says Petter Lindh, project manager at SBI. ■
