Mattel Announces “Wonder Indoor Waterparks”

(eap) The toy company Mattel has announced the development of several indoor water parks. A total of five facilities – including one location in the entertainment metropolis of Orlando, Florida – are to be created in cooperation with the companies Martin Aquatic, American Resort Management and the I-dentity Group. The new experiential aquatic destinations are intended to integrate well-known Mattel brands such as “Barbie” and “Hot Wheels” and include attractions ranging from lazy rivers and wave pools to exciting water slides.

“Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks will encompass many iconic Mattel brands that span generations of play, offering innovative water-based attractions and amenities in a dynamic new format for Mattel. We are thrilled to collaborate with these exceptional industry leaders in waterpark development to create an experience where guests can connect with their favorite brands in an entirely new way,” emphasizes Julie Freeland, VP Global Location Based Entertainment at Mattel.

“Blending our innovative experiential design with Mattel’s family of brands is a dream come true. We look forward to inspiring that same sense of wonder for kids and adults alike as they cross the threshold into each Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark,” says Josh Martin, President and Creative Director of Martin Aquatic. Rick Coleman, CEO of American Resort Management, highlights: “As experts in waterpark management and hospitality development, our team is primed to create truly memorable experiences at every Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark location.” Chris Schroeder, CEO of I-dentity Group, adds: “We are excited to bring Mattel’s incredible brands to a new entertainment destination. With Mattel’s diverse portfolio of iconic properties, there is no limit to the energy and imagination each Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark will offer visitors.”

Mattel is currently significantly expanding its location-based entertainment offerings. For example, the first “Mission: Play! By Mattel” family entertainment center opened last year at The Galleria Al Maryah Island Mall in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In addition, two major projects are in development: a Mattel Adventure Park in Bonner Springs, Kansas, as part of Destination KCK, and another facility at the Crystal Lagoons Island Resort in Arizona (USA). ■
