Missouri / USA: Silver Dollar City to Open New Thrill Ride in 2013

Silver Dollar City, located in Branson, Missouri and operated by Herschend Family Entertainment, announced this summer to open a new major attraction in the spring of 2013. The new 10 million US dollar (roughly 8.1 million Euros) attraction will be a wooden rollercoaster called “Outlaw Run”. According to the park, it will be the steepest wooden coaster worldwide and have three inversions (a 720° double barrel roll and a 153° outside banked turn), also a unique feature for a wooden coaster. After having climbed the lift, the two trains, accommodating 24 passengers each, drop down nearly 50 meters at 81 degrees. The coaster reaches a top speed of 109 km/h. At nine spots on the about 895 meter long track, passengers will feel airtime moments. Idaho-based manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction Group will supply the Western-themed ride. (eap)
