New teamLab Location in Tokyo Announced for 2032

(eap) While the international art collective teamLab is already represented in the Japanese capital with two permanent digital art museums – teamLab Borderless: MORI Building Digital Art Museum and teamLab Planets TOKYO – a further venue is scheduled to open there in 2032. The new museum, provisionally named teamLab TOKYO, will be located in Ariake, a district in Kōtō in the Tokyo Metropolis. Covering around 30,000 square meters, it is set to seamlessly connect open spaces and will feature immersive digital art exhibitions as well as an urban forest, public plazas and cafés.

Through its immersive exhibitions, teamLab aims to transcend conventional boundaries in the perception of the world and in the relationship between people and their environment. The art collective views everything that exists as part of a long, fragile yet extraordinary continuum without fixed boundaries. Its two existing Tokyo venues welcomed a combined total of around 4.2 million visitors in 2025.

In June this year, French operator Culturespaces, which offers a similar digital museum experience, opened a new venue in Ariake called “Le Rêve des Lumières”. The museum was developed as part of the Tokyo Dream Parks leisure and entertainment complex. ■
