(eap) With the “Norwegian Luna™”, Norwegian Cruise Line® has taken delivery of the 21st vessel in its fleet from the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Following its transatlantic voyage from Rome to North America, the modern cruise ship is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. on March 23 and celebrate its official christening in the port of Miami on March 27. The vessel will then operate three- and four-day Bahamas cruises as well as seven-day Caribbean itineraries from its homeport in Miami. Ports of call will also include NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, where the new Great Tides water park is scheduled to open this summer.

“We are very excited to welcome Norwegian Luna to our fleet and to greet the first guests on board as early as next week,” said Marc Kazlauskas, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “As our newest ship, Norwegian Luna is a powerful expression of our brand promise, ‘It’s Different Out Here’. It represents freedom, flexibility and carefully curated experiences, allowing guests to enjoy their vacation exactly as they wish – effortlessly and individually. This ship reflects the continued evolution of our vision and the extraordinary work behind an award-winning class of vessels. We are deeply grateful to the world-leading architects and designers, as well as our talented partners at Fincantieri, for bringing Norwegian Luna to life. We look forward to continuing this strong partnership and building more exceptional NCL ships together over the coming decade.”

The second ship in the Prima Plus class accommodates 3,565 guests in more than 1,809 cabins. A total of 17 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges offer a wide range of dining and entertainment options. The onboard entertainment program of Norwegian Luna also caters to all age groups. Among the highlights is an “Aqua Slidecoaster” from wiegand.waterrides, which is currently exclusive to NCL ships. “Luna Midway” is the name of an outdoor amusement park-style deck area designed to evoke the atmosphere of a traditional fairground. In addition to the multi-level obstacle course “Moon Climber”, the offering also includes interactive play areas such as the “Luna Game Zone”, featuring retro arcade games and modern VR experiences. Guests seeking relaxation can enjoy the wellness facilities at the “Mandara Spa” or retreat to the adults-only “Vibe Beach Club”. For evening entertainment, “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John”, a tribute to the British music legend, is set to provide a headline show on board. ■
