New Experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
(eap) Several new additions are currently being introduced at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida: the reopening of “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster” with new “Muppets” theming, first insights into the outdoor area of the future “The Magic of Disney Animation” experience, and a new experience centred around “The Mandalorian” and “Grogu” for the “Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run” attraction.

Since yesterday, guests have been able to experience the indoor ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in a new guise. While music remains at the heart of the attraction, the previous theming based on the US rock band Aerosmith has been replaced by the Muppets. The exterior appearance of the attraction, the queue area and the ride experience itself are now dedicated to the cult puppet characters created by Jim Henson.
In the queue area, visitors encounter the Muppets’ house band, “The Electric Mayhem”, who are recording new tracks in the studio. In the control booth, a team of penguin audio engineers are hard at work, while band manager “Scooter” – in the form of an audio-animatronics figure – tries to persuade the musicians to finish their recordings and make their way to the increasingly impatient fans. During the roller coaster ride, a soundtrack featuring well-known rock hits, performed by Electric Mayhem, provides the musical accompaniment.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has also recently received an update. Since 22 May, visitors to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland Park in Anaheim have been able to experience a new mission. On board the interactive flight simulator, guests can expect new gameplay and appearances from The Mandalorian and Grogu – in line with the cinema release of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu”.
“The Magic of Disney Animation”, a new experience scheduled to open fully in late summer this year, takes guests back to Disney’s creative roots. Since yesterday, the outdoor area of the new offering has already been accessible to guests. It is modelled on the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California, and recreates its buildings and atmosphere in detail. The area includes the “Studio Theater”, where “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” continues to be shown, as well as the “Soundstage”, where the family show “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” is performed.

Further offerings are scheduled to follow in the area at a later date. These include “Olaf Draws!”, an Animation Academy featuring the popular snowman from “Frozen”; the “Once Upon A Studio Theater”, where the short film of the same name will be shown; “Off the Page!”, an area for meet-and-greets with various Disney characters; and “Drawn to Wonderland”, a playground in the style of “Alice in Wonderland”. ■
