New Water Slide Fun at Sälzer Lagune Outdoor Pool

(eap) The Sälzer Lagune outdoor pool in Salzkotten, East Westphalia, Germany, has added a new water slide this summer. The open stainless-steel slide replaces the approximately 30-year-old blue GRP water slide, which had reached the end of its technical service life. The contract for the new installation was awarded to the Döbeln-based atlantics company.
After the old slide had been dismantled in September 2025, extensive preparatory work began in spring this year. In addition to new foundations, lightning protection work, the renewal of the necessary connections and modifications to the fencing were required. A new staircase was also constructed. The new slide was finally delivered and installed in July, allowing it to open in time for the start of the summer holidays.

A total of around 280,000 euros was invested in the project. The 46-meter-long stainless-steel water slides features a sofa run-out leading into the existing leisure pool. A corrosion-resistant spiral staircase with a steel/stainless-steel platform has also been added. Guests can reach a maximum speed of around 30 km/h on the new water slide, which is the main attraction at the Salzkotten outdoor pool. In addition to the leisure pool into which the slide runs, the saline Sälzer Lagune offers a 25-meter swimming pool with five lanes as well as a children’s paddling pool.
“With the new water slide, we are making a conscious investment in the future of our Sälzer Lagune. Families and all our bathing guests can look forward to even more leisure fun. At the same time, we are opting for a durable and safe installation that will continue to delight visitors for many years to come,” said Mayor Ulrich Berger. The new stainless-steel slide is part of the long-term development of the outdoor pool, which is operated by Stadtwerke Salzkotten and supported by Förderverein Freibad Salzkotten e.V. ■
