Plopsaland Belgium: Opening Details for “Le Cinéma Volant”

(eap) Plopsaland Belgium has announced the opening date and further details for its flying theatre “Le Cinéma Volant”, which is currently being built as part of the new “Plopsaland Plaza”. In a making-of series dedicated to the attraction, Carl Lenaerts, CEO of the Plopsa Group, revealed that it will open on 13 March 2027. Accompanied by “Maya the Bee”, visitors will then be able to embark on a virtual flight across Europe.

The project was announced at IAAPA Expo Europe 2025 in Barcelona at the stand of German manufacturer Mack Rides, which is installing its Airific Theatre system (see EAP 6/2025). Plopsa is collaborating with Belgian company Barco on the projection and audio technology. Construction work on the attraction began in fall 2025. The first theming work is now underway, along with the installation of the large projection dome inside the building. The technical systems, theming and audiovisual components will be installed gradually over the coming months. “It is impressive to see the progress being made from week to week. From today, everyone can start counting down to a completely new family experience unlike anything else at Plopsaland,” said Carl Lenaerts.

Le Cinéma Volant will form part of Plopsaland Plaza, a 25-million-euro project representing the largest single investment in the park’s history. The new plaza is intended to become a central meeting place within the resort, combining attractions, food and beverage outlets, and entertainment. In addition to the flying theatre, it will feature the “Grand Café”, a bowling alley, arcade games and a new station for the “Plopsa Express”. One special feature is that Plopsaland Plaza will remain accessible free of charge after the theme park closes during the summer. Locals and tourists will be able to dine there and enjoy the entertainment offerings. The flying theatre will also be accessible with a separate ticket during these hours. ■
