Positive Initial Balance for New Combined Pool in Aalen

Positive Initial Balance for New Combined Pool in Aalen

Seit Ende November ist das neue Hirschbachbad in Aalen in Betrieb – die Stadtwerke Aalen ziehen eine erste positive Bilanz.

(eap) Around ten weeks after the opening of the new combined pool Hirschbachbad in Aalen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), the municipal operator Stadtwerke Aalen (SWA) are drawing a positive initial balance. Since the official commissioning at the opening weekend from 28 to 30 November 2025, the pool has recorded 46,727 visitors (as of 9 February 2026).

Of these, 36,820 guests were accounted for by the public swimming operation. A further 5,028 pupils used the pool as part of school swimming, and 4,879 club members attended during club swimming. It should be noted that several closing days occurred during the first weeks of operation due to the Christmas and New Year holidays as well as the Christmas vacation. In addition, the outdoor pool area is not yet open.

“We already felt before the opening weekend how great the interest in the new Hirschbachbad is. In the weeks afterwards, demand also remained consistently high. On the busiest day so far, we welcomed almost 1,300 guests. We are satisfied, and we would be happy for it to continue this way,” explains SWA Managing Director Michael Schäfer.

For comparison: In its last full year of operation in 2024, the former indoor pool in Aalen recorded a total of 115,376 guests, of which 59,753 were in public operation, 5,229 sauna guests and 50,394 guests as part of school and club swimming.

According to the municipal utilities, feedback from the first visitors has already been incorporated into operational optimisation. These involve smaller measures, such as additional hooks and shelves in the sauna and shower areas as well as adjustments to the temperature control in the sauna area in order to increase guest comfort. Such details only became apparent during ongoing operations, as no comprehensive soft opening phase had been possible in advance. ■
