(eap) The holiday centre Schloss Dankern in Germany’s Emsland region will start the new season on 20 March and expand its offer with several attractions. The centrepiece of the new developments is the “Forsthof” (Forester’s Lodge) area, where visitors will soon be able to enjoy a variety of new and modernized attractions. These include the chicken coop playhouse, the peat cutter train ride and the pony trekking ride (both by Metallbau Emmeln), the mini cars and the new “Treckertour” tractor ride.

The latter is the new product type “Tractor Ride AGV” by abc rides (see EAP trade show report in issue 6/2024). Each of the autonomously driving tractors will accommodate four guests, who travel along a route of more than 200 metres. The track layout will lead over various obstacles such as tree trunks, ground elevations and a water hole.

“This year we are building a bridge between traditional family fun and state-of-the-art technology,” explains Christian Freiherr von Landsberg-Velen, owner of the holiday centre. According to him, the shared experience was a key focus during planning: “Families can explore this completely new course together. The fact that we can offer this attraction as the first in Europe naturally makes us particularly proud.”

According to the operator, the new Forsthof area is expected to develop into another major attraction within the resort. “Our most recent investments, the Spielewerft with its maritime adventure world and the Playfountain as well as the imaginative Feenwald, have also proven to be crowd-pullers,” says von Landsberg-Velen.

Work on the Forsthof area is currently in full swing. The prolonged period of frost had temporarily interrupted construction work for several weeks. Schloss Dankern also used the winter months, in addition to the usual maintenance work on the almost 800 holiday homes, to build a new building for the paramedics. This will serve as a central contact point for guests in emergencies and, in addition to a sick room, also includes storage rooms.
