Six Flags Fiesta Texas Announces Record-Breaking Coaster for 2027
(eap) The US theme park Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio has announced “Werewolf Gorge”, a new family thrill coaster scheduled to open next year on the occasion of the park’s 35th anniversary. The coaster, manufactured by Dutch company Vekoma, is set to become the world’s longest family launch coaster, with a track length of 4,120 feet (1.26 kilometres).

During the approximately two-and-a-half-minute ride, guests will experience four launches, 32 airtime moments, a rollback and numerous near-miss effects. The coaster, which will be accessible from a body height of one metre, is expected to reach a top speed of up to 45 mph (approx. 72 km/h).
In addition to the ride elements, theming is also set to play a central role in the new attraction. According to the storyline, “Werewolf Gorge” places guests in a mysterious Texas quarry steeped in legend and inspired by the park’s real quarry setting. What begins as a guided tour aboard a rugged mining train quickly turns into a fast-paced escape through twisting terrain, as riders encounter a centuries-old werewolf curse. The queue area is also to be integrated into the story and will include themed sections such as a “Museum of Cryptids” and a “Werewolf Museum”.

It delivers an experience that is approachable for families, yet unmatched anywhere in the world.” ■
