Spain: Puy du Fou goes international – New Park for Toledo

Das Puy du Fou International-Team und die Vertreter der Region Kastilien-La Mancha

After the successful realization of the “Kynren” evening spectacle in England (premiere in 2016, this year’s season begins on July 1st) and the announcement of a new theme park project for Moscow which is scheduled to open in 2020, the international team of Puy du Fou now revealed more details on another connected project. In the Spanish city of Toledo, which is located in Castile-La Mancha attracting approx. 2.5 million tourists per year, a new evening show will be premiered in 2019 – one year later follows the opening of a new family park with a historic theme.

Taking as model the French Puy du Fou park (located in the Vendée region), which has welcomed 2.22 million visitors in 2016 (c.f. EAP 2/16 & 3/16), the project is currently under development on a total area of 140 hectares. Starting in 2019, the location will host a daily evening show with a duration of 75 minutes and with more than 300 participants for an audience of up to 4,000 spectators. Its theme will feature the history of Spain – from the Carpetani (a Celtic pre-Roman tribe living in the province of Hispania) until the 19th century. In 2020, the family park will see the opening of its first phase, which is expected to generate around 1.3 million visitors in its first year of operation. Besides unspoiled nature, the park will offer two spectacular open-air shows, two indoor shows as well as a historic village and a restaurant. The investment sum for the whole project amounts to 197 million Euros. (eap)
