Sweden: Gröna Lund Reveals Plans for New Coaster

In the upcoming season, starting in April, Sweden’s Gröna Lund theme park will surprise its visitors with an all-new attraction: “IKAROS“ is the name of the new spectacular ride that will certainly make guests‘ hands sweat. And even before the new season has started, plans for the construction of a new rollercoaster with an opening scheduled for 2020 have recently become public.

As confirmed to EAP by Parks and Resorts Scandinavia Public Relations Manager Annika Troselius, the park has already submitted plans to the relevant authorities. The ride, which will be supplied by Bolliger & Mabillard, will feature a track length of 700 meters and cover a third of the park’s total area. Construction works are planned to start in 2018 provided that the building permit is granted in due time. According to Troselius, the total investment for the entire area where the coaster and further elements will be built amounts to approx. 350 million SEK (around 37 million EUR). (eap)
