The Ark Encounter – “Green” Religious Theme Park to Be Built in the USA

 At the end of last year the media reported about the construction of a Christian-themed park in North Kentucky called “The Ark Encounter”. An enormous full-scale Noah’s Ark made of wood will be the park’s main attraction and at the same time the largest timber-frame structure in the USA. Animal shows, live performances and edutainment offerings will also be part of the park that sees itself rather as a historically themed park than as an amusement park. The 150 million dollar project will be built and financed by a private for-profit limited liability company and Answers in Genesis, operator of The Creation Museum in Petersburg (Kentucky), as well as through donations. The use of environmentally friendly techniques and local products and companies showcases the project’s “green” construction methods. Slated to open in spring 2014, the grand opening will follow the completion of the first construction phase. (eap)
