Therme Group Appoints Rainer Maelzer as Chief Entertainment Officer

(eap) As announced yesterday, the internationally active Therme Group has appointed Rainer Maelzer (photo) as its Chief Entertainment Officer. In this role, the industry expert will be responsible for the development and global implementation of the next generation of leisure experiences within the Therme Group portfolio. The focus is said to be on integrating dynamic, water-based attractions into the group’s broader wellbeing concept.

His expertise in developing world-class attractions and experiential environments will be instrumental as we expand Therme destinations internationally, helping shape engaging, family-oriented spaces that blend innovation, recreation and wellbeing,” says Dr. Robert Hanea, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Therme Group.

Maelzer is regarded as a long-standing expert in the leisure industry, particularly in the field of immersive, water-based attractions. Most recently, as President of WhiteWater ERA, he was responsible for business development in Europe from the Munich-based European office of Canadian water attraction specialist WhiteWater West (cf. EAP 6/2020). Prior to this, he was co-founder and CEO of manufacturer wiegand.maelzer GmbH (cf. EAP news 13 May 2019). Maelzer had already served as VP of Attractions & Partnerships for Therme Group for several years.
In addition to his new position, Maelzer will remain closely involved in the work of Therme Ent GmbH. This specialized innovation and project company is responsible for the creative and operational foundation of Therme Group’s entertainment offerings worldwide – from concept development and design coordination through to project implementation, as well as long-term standards in quality, safety and sustainability.
