Thermen und Badewelt Bad Sinsheim Examines Geothermal Potential

(eap) The German Thermen und Badewelt Bad Sinsheim near Heidelberg, which belongs to the Josef Wund thermal spa group, is carrying out exploratory drilling from today until Friday this week. The aim is to examine the extent to which geothermal energy can be used as a renewable energy source for the operation of the thermal bath and its planned expansion.

After initial investigations have already been positive, the responsibles hope that geothermal energy as a renewable energy source will ensure further independence from external energy sources. In a first step, the test drillings will show to what extent the heat obtained can be used for the Bad Sinsheim thermal bath. In principle, geothermal energy could be perfectly combined with the architectural and technical concepts of the leisure pool facility. The drilling is being carried out by the specialist company Johannes Bonhoff GmbH from northern Germany. The shallow exploratory drilling work will have no impact on the ongoing operation of the thermal baths. ■
