(eap) Earlier this summer, a new location of the indoor park brand Sparkx opened in the Belgian city of Ghent. In the so-called “sportainment parks” operated by the Belgian company, visitors can try out a wide range of interactive, movement-based activities that combine traditional sports with digital gaming experiences. These include, for instance, virtual Formula 1 and ski races or biathlon competitions that can be completed using simulators and other modern technologies. Some of the attractions and experiences are even developed and produced in-house by Sparkx. The portfolio also includes inclusive offerings for people with physical disabilities. The concept aims to make physical activity appealing to various target and age groups by promoting fun and team spirit as shared experiences.

Now, a third Sparkx location has been announced – the new park is scheduled to open by spring 2026 in the Belgian municipality of Schelle, near Antwerp. “A month after the recent opening in Ghent, we had already welcomed 10,000 visitors. The influx in Hasselt and Ghent proves that our concept works. Young and old, women and men, with or without a disability: everyone discovers here that sport can be so much more than competition alone. […] With the site in Schelle, we’re taking a new, important milestone in our growth. We may even take our first steps abroad soon. I’m thinking of the Netherlands, France, and western Germany,” said Mathieu Renier, Founder & CEO of Sparkx. ■
