Toverland to Replace Maximus’ Blitzbahn by New Attraction
(eap) Fans of “Maximus’ Blitz Bahn” at Toverland should mark 17 May in their calendars, as the popular attraction will operate for the final time on that day. The park will bid farewell to the Wiegand-built bobkart coaster, which originally opened in 2004 under the name “Wound Racer”. In 2015, Toverland comprehensively upgraded the attraction, introducing a new covered track, a new name and thematic design (cf. EAP 3/2015). The Dutch park is now entering the attraction’s next chapter. Due to limited capacity and associated technical challenges, Toverland has decided to replace the ride with a new attraction. The new installation is scheduled to open in the winter season.

In cooperation with the Dutch manufacturer ETF Ride Systems, the park has developed a new type of ride system. It is designed to combine the key strengths of the existing attraction with a completely new ride experience. The new product, named “Swinging Bobsled”, will feature a roller coaster track instead of the traditional U-shaped trough. While the covered layout will be retained, new and larger bobsled vehicles will be introduced. Each vehicle accommodates two persons, and the design follows a steampunk style. A distinctive feature of the new ride type is the lateral swinging motion of the vehicles. This movement is mechanically induced and is intended to enhance ride dynamics. In addition, riders will continue to have the option to control their speed via a lever.
Toverland celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Starting 18 April, guests can enjoy a new magic show titled “Magic Memories”, featuring the artist Hans Klok. To mark the anniversary, the park will also host a 25-hour “ToverFestival” from 27 to 28 June, offering a range of special activities for visitors. ■
