UK: Nick Thompson Takes On New Development & Innovations Role at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

England’s Blackpool Pleasure Beach (BPB) pier park, located in Blackpool (UK), is currently being operated in the fourth generation of the Thompson family. From now on, deputy managing director Nick Thompson (photo) will primarily take care of the park’s future development and innovation businesses.

For many years, Nick, who is the brother of BPB General Manager Amanda Thompson OBE, has already been strongly involved in the park‘s developments. He brought some popular Nickelodeon IP’s and Aardman Animation’s „Wallace&Gromit“ to the park. In addition to his management role, Nick Thompson was elected chairman of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) in 2017 – his father and grandfather already held the same position in the past. His sister Amanda is the current chairperson of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) – read also our interview with Amanda Thompson in our current EAP issue 1/2020.
