(eap) After 36 years with Disney, Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle (pictured here) will retire this summer. The long-serving Disney manager announced the news on social media earlier this week: “I started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom and I’m wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community.”

In doing so, he referred to several upcoming new offerings at the resort: the “Cool KIDS‘ Summer“ campaign, which will run from 26 May to 8 September, the opening of “Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets“ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on 26 May, and the launch of the updated “Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run” attraction at the same park on 22 May. Vahle will remain with the company until the end of July.

A mechanical engineer who also holds a master’s degree in business administration, Vahle has worked for Disney since 1990. Since 2020, he has led the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as President, overseeing a workforce of approx. 80,000 cast members. The resort comprises four theme parks, more than 25 resort hotels, two water parks, a sports complex, the retail, dining and entertainment district Disney Springs, as well as further behind-the-scenes areas. Numerous new attraction and experience openings shaped Vahle’s tenure, including “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure”, “Journey of Water, inspired by Moana”, “TRON Lightcycle / Run” and “Gaurdians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind”. Several resort refurbishments and expansions also took place during his tenure.

In addition, Vahle has also been responsible for overseeing Disney Experiences’ “Worldwide Safety, Health, Engineering and Sourcing” divisions. Before becoming President of Walt Disney World, he was the leader of the Disney Signature Experiences business unit, which includes, among others, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club. Over the course of his Disney career, Jeff Vahle held various leadership positions worldwide, including at Disney California Adventure Park, Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disney Resort. ■
