(eap) A novel gameplay attraction that combines interactivity and teamwork as in Laser Tag or escape rooms with the imaginative worlds of video games has now opened as a new experience at the leisure venue AmazingXscapes in Springfield, Illinois: FuzionGamz, a vital game world designed to appeal to visitors of all ages.
At the heart of FuzionGamz is a patented technology called “SmartTrax”, which enables real-time tracking of players’ movements and actions – without the use of wearables. These motion data feed into the game content generated with the 3D visualization tool Unreal Engine, which is projected across the walls of the individual game rooms to create a high degree of immersion for players. The content is generated in real time, resulting in dynamic gameplay – whether participants are solving puzzles or hitting targets.
Groups of different age levels can play together, as the gameplay content is based on an adaptive concept. The system adjusts challenges and objectives according to the age and abilities of the players. Younger participants might, for example, swat away insects, while teenagers engage in battle scenarios – all within the same responsive environment. Multiple layers of discovery – including hidden relics and Easter eggs – encourage repeat visits, as no two play-throughs are the same.

The concept behind FuzionGamz was developed by Rick Briggs, who has many years of experience in the leisure industry and is known for technological innovations such as MagiQuest (a concept involving interactive devices and trigger points to activate effects) and the development of a water park splash bucket. Briggs explains: “I wanted to create something that feels like stepping into a video game – but with real-world interaction and teamwork. FuzionGamz is about blending digital immersion with physical gameplay to offer an experience that appeals to all ages.”
For operators, the FuzionGamz concept is also attractive due to its scalability. The content platform is continuously developed, providing new storylines without requiring costly rebuilds. At the same time, it requires less staffing than comparable concepts that rely on technologies such as Virtual Reality or target specific age groups. ■
