Zoombezi Bay: New Slide Tower Opens
(eap) Zoombezi Bay, the 22.7-acre water park in Powell, Ohio, which is operated by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, recently opened its new slide tower called “Conservation Tower”. The new attraction comprises three waterslides from Canadian manufacturer ProSlide, which are themed around environmental and conservation issues.
According to the park, “The Hive” is a world first: it is the first slide of its kind to combine 720-degree helix spirals – so-called “HIVE™ 20” elements. The ride takes place in two-person tires. “Mussel Mayhem” also offers a special sliding experience: two half-pipe cutbacks and two funnel elements ensure dynamic changes of direction. It is also used with double tires. “Captina Falls” is the world’s first “Matting RallyRACER®” slide to be combined with a “FlyingSAUCER® 8” element. The timed matt slide is designed for competition and is intended to encourage guests to make repeated slide experiences.
“Conservation Tower is full of firsts – from the world’s first installations of the HIVE 20 and Captina Falls […] to the conservation theme that supports the mission of our organization,” emphasizes Anthony Sabo, Vice President, Zoombezi Bay and Guest Services.
“For nearly two decades, Zoombezi Bay has been a phenomenal partner in pushing the boundaries of guest experience,” expresses Jeff Janovich, Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Partnerships at ProSlide. “With Conservation Tower, they’ve raised the bar for how storytelling and conservation can transform a water park into something truly meaningful. We’re proud to continue innovating alongside them.” ■
