USA: Rebranding & New Slide for Splashtown Water Park at Six Flags Darien Lake

In February 2019, Six Flags announced the takeover of the Darien Lake Resort (located in the US State of New York), including the associated water park “Splashtown”. Now, the water park is undergoing a rebranding and will be operated under the Six Flags label “Hurricane Harbor” as of this summer. At the same time, another highlight will be added to the waterslide portfolio. “Wahoo Wave”, a thrill slide of the “TornadoWAVE” type from the Canadian manufacturer ProSlide, will complement the park and will certainly give sliders butterflies in their stomach.

The almost 18-meter high slide starts for guests, who will be sliding it in four-person rafts, with a harpin turn followed by a corkscrew element. Without warning, sliders then plunge down an almost nine-meter-long and nearly vertical drop. A whirlpool bowl and water wave wall complete the adrenaline-infused slide experience. “Six Flags is committed to making the park bigger, better and now wetter than ever with the addition of this world-class waterpark attraction, Wahoo Wave. With non-stop, soaking thrills for the entire family, Hurricane Harbor will be the perfect summertime escape,” commented Chris Thrope, president of Six Flags Darien Lake. Hurricane Harbor will be open to guests beginning May 27. (eap)
