“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” Also Coming to Orlando

(eap) Universal is continuing to expand its “Fast & Furious” IP, relying on state-of-the-art roller coaster technology. After the first “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” roller coaster was announced for Universal Studios Hollywood in 2024 (c.f. EAP News of 6 May 2024) – built by Intamin (see EAP 1/2026, Orlando Trade Fair Report, p. 94) and scheduled to open this year – it has now been announced that a coaster attraction of the same name will also be built at Universal Studios Florida. The new ride is scheduled to open there in 2027.

In Orlando, the coaster will be located on the site of the former “Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit” roller coaster, which permanently closed last summer. The new attraction promises guests cinematic action in the style of the famous blockbuster film series and will feature dynamic ride elements, 360-degree drift sequences, and a vertical spike over 50 meters high. As part of the roller coaster project, there are also plans to permanently close the “Fast & Furious – Supercharged” attraction, which opened in 2018. This is a motion-based dark ride with a 3D audio system and 360-degree screen (c.f. EAP News 24 April 2018), which will be closed in favor of the new large-scale project in 2027. ■
