(eap) With a “spooky” marketing campaign, the British theme park Alton Towers, operated by Merlin Entertainments, recently announced that the popular roller coaster “Nemesis” will reopen on March 16 under the name “Nemesis Reborn”. Opened in 1994 as Europe’s first Inverted Coaster (by B&M), the ride was closed at the end of 2022 for extensive modernization works. Fans of the attraction are now looking forward to the reopening. The entire 716-metre-long roller coaster track was replaced as part of the works and fitted with new design elements.

“Throughout its first 30 years, Nemesis captured the imagination of millions of thrillseekers from around the globe. It’s been an astonishing privilege to bring this truly iconic ride into the 21st century. We’ve retained its essential DNA, while harnessing the most state-of-the-art technology and immersive storytelling techniques to ensure it will retain its status as a truly unrivalled rollercoaster experience for a whole new generation. And from March 16, those brave enough will be able to experience for themselves the truly awesome power of Nemesis Reborn,” said Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort.

In addition to Nemesis Reborn, visitors can look forward to the reopening of the walkthrough dark ride “Hex – The Legend of the Towers” and the 10th anniversary of “CBeebies Land” when the season starts on March 16. In CBeebies Land, the youngest park visitors can discover attractions based around their favourite characters from the popular British TV channel CBeebie. To celebrate the jubilee of the area, visitors can look forward to new additions to the land, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks. ■
