LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort Welcomes First Guests

Grand Opening of LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort

(eap) Last weekend saw the official opening of China’s first LEGOLAND® Resort in Shanghai (Fengjing Town, Jinshan District). The ceremony was held in the presence of representatives from the Shanghai and Jinshan governments, Merlin Entertainments, the LEGO® Group, and the New Jinshan Investment Group. LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort covers an area of some 318,000 square meters and includes the LEGOLAND® Hotel, eight themed areas with various rides, shows, stores and restaurants as well as numerous Lego models made from a total of more than 85 million Lego bricks.

For the first time in a Legoland Resort, a dedicated themed area has been created around “Lego Monkie Kid”, an original IP developed by the Lego Group for the Chinese market. The centerpiece is the water attraction “Lego Monkie Kid Flower Fruit Mountain Adventure”. Another first is the “Legoland Creative World”, which includes other main attractions such as the Family Inverted Coaster “The Big Lego Coaster” (B&M) and the “Legoland Boat Tour” (Hafema). In addition, Legoland classics such as the “The Dragon” family roller coaster (Zierer), the “Dragon’s Apprentice” junior coaster (Zamperla) and the interactive dark ride “Lego Ninjago the Ride” (Triotech) also await visitors.

I look forward to Legoland Shanghai becoming a new cultural landmark for family interaction and bringing unique joy to all Lego fans in China and beyond,” said Mr. Niels B.
