(eap) This coming Friday, March 22, Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen will kick off the 2024 season. Over the course of the year, visitors can look forward to a number of new features in addition to the familiar attractions and events. These include a new “Tom & Jerry” 4D film, which was created in collaboration with SimEx-Iwerks and takes visitors on an amusing adventure with special effects in the Roxy 4D cinema. Also, illusionist Christian Farla returns from July 1 to August 25 with a sequel to the “Sherlock Holmes – A Game of Mystery” show.

In addition, Movie Park, which is operated by Parques Reunidos wants to further consolidate its positioning as a film and leisure park. “In recent years, Movie Park Germany has continuously developed and integrated the theme of film more and more clearly into the park. We will continue to build on this in the future,” says Managing Director Thorsten Backhaus. “At the same time, we have made some innovations and renovations in the park during this winter break in order to optimize the experience in Hollywood in Germany.” Among these renovations is the former “Pizza and Pasta” restaurant, which has been extensively modernized and will be presented as “Trattoria Hollywood” with a new all-you-can-eat concept from spring. At the start of the season, the renovated restaurant will open in soft opening mode for the first time in order to optimize operational processes.

In addition to operational and visual factors, a reason for the conversion was the change in visitor behaviour: Over 90 percent of tickets are now purchased online and in advance, meaning that a smaller number of ticket booths is required. The park will also have a new confectionery store behind “The High Fall” attraction in the western area. To meet the high demand for meet & greets with the guests favourite Nickelodeon characters, the “Back at the Barnyard Bumper” bumper car will make way for a new stage, which will be available from summer 2024.

Also, this season, Movie Park is once again hosting a series of events. Highlights include the 26th edition of the “Halloween Horror Festival” and “Movie Park’s Hollywood Christmas”. The park recently received an FKF Award in the “Park Innovation” category for the premiere of the Christmas event last year (see EAP news from 06.03.2024). The 4D simulator attraction “The Lost Temple” will remain closed this year due to renovation works. The attraction is set to reopen in the 2025 season with a new family-friendly Hollywood adventure. ■
