Paultons Park Announces Viking-themed Area with New Thrill Coaster
(eap) Starting today, visitors to Paultons Park in southern England can embark on a ghost hunt in the park’s new dark ride Ghostly Manor. The official opening of the Gameplay Theatre (realized by Mack Rides in cooperation with Lagotronics, Leisure Expert Group and Themics) also served as the occasion for the family-run park to unveil further major additions: “Valgard – Realm of the Vikings” is set to open as a new Vikings-themed area in spring 2026, featuring a new thrill coaster and additional experiences.
With an investment volume of around twelve million British pounds (approximately 14 million euros), the planned expansion represents the largest single investment in the history of Paultons Park. The coaster – aimed particularly at older children and teenagers – will be the park’s first inverted coaster. The adrenaline-pumping ride, to be named “Drakon”, will include elements such as a vertical lift hill and two inversions. The expansion will also include a Wild Swing, an adventure playground, and a themed restaurant. Additionally, the existing “Cobra” Bobsled Coaster will receive a new design to be integrated into the coming area under the name of “Raven”. The park also confirmed that another major thrill ride is to be added to Valgard in 2027, teasing a water-related experience…
“We are thrilled to share our plans for our largest and boldest investment to date, and on the day that we welcomed guests into our brand-new Ghostly Manor,” said James Mancey, Deputy Managing Director at Paultons Park.
The expansion is also directly linked to the park’s long-term development strategy: Just a few days ago, Paultons Park announced plans for its own Scandinavian-themed overnight accommodation, turning the theme park into a leisure destination resort (c.f. EAP news of 15 May 2025). ■
