Silver Dollar City: Major Investment in New “Fire in the Hole” Coaster

(eap) Earlier this year, the US theme park Silver Dollar City announced that it would close its popular indoor roller coaster “Fire in the Hole”, which opened in 1972, at the end of this season. But – a replacement is coming, as it was now announced by the park who invests some 30 million US dollars in a new Fire in the Hole indoor roller coaster, which is scheduled to open as early as next spring. The remake of the hugely popular ride, which has been around for more than 50 years, will also stick to its regional roots and be based on a true incident that once happened in the Ozark Mountains. A major fire will be fictitiously retold: instead of being able to admire a new fire truck model, passengers will have to help extinguish the threatening flames by joining forces.

In cooperation with Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the new ride experience will be created to thrill family audiences in the future, including elements such as a powered incline, three drops and a quick splash-landing. A custom soundtrack for onboard sound, lighting and special effects are to embellish the underlying storyline. This investment is the largest in a single attraction made by the Herschend Family Entertainment park until to date. ■
