(eap) The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) organizes an annual conference for representatives of the leisure industry in China, Europe and America. This year, the European meeting was held from 3 to 6 May at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany. 140 participants, including theme park and water park CEOs, designers, architects and engineers from 17 countries, exchanged ideas on SATE topics (storytelling, architecture, technology and experiences). Dressed as Vikings, the participants got exciting insights into the water world Rulantica, Europa-Park, YULLBE (see EAP issue 6/2020) as well as the roller coaster manufacturer MACK Rides and experienced the adventure gastronomy novelty “Eatrenalin” (see EAP issue 6/2022).

The host of the event and owner of Europa-Park, Roland Mack, was recently honored by TEA for his life’s work with the “Buzz Price Award”. “The risk in founding the park was high. We had no experience, had to use all our equity to get everything started. It was a mix of enthusiasm, passion, joy and optimism that drove us. To me, TEA means a high level of creativity and perfect design. Without the ideas of the members there would be no emotions and without emotions no theme park would be successful. For me, TEA is a key to the success of the theme park industry. We can only win people over through emotions and, of course, innovations and quality – that’s exactly what TEA stands for.” ■
