USA: Orange County Commission Approves Skyplex Orlando

This past Tuesday Orange County commissioners unanimously approved the construction of the Skyplex entertainment complex at the intersection of International Drive and Sand Lake Road in Orlando, Florida. Throughout the last months critical voices, above all Universal Orlando, had opposed the development of the 500 million US dollar (around 472 million euros) entertainment complex. The main attractions at Skyplex will be the 173 meter high polercoaster “The Skyscraper™” ordered from S&S (cf. EAP, issue 3/2015) and the Intamin free-fall attraction “Skyfall™”, which will be integrated into the rollercoaster’s tower structure. Further attractions will include a 457 meter long zipline and a surf park. Joshua Wallack from Wallack Holdings, the company behind the project, is currently looking for Chinese investors to fund the project. The entertainment complex’s opening has been postponed to 2018.
