Zero Latency VR Brings “Jumanji” to VR Arenas

(eap) The Australian company Zero Latency VR, developer and operator of free-roam VR attractions, has announced a new licensing agreement with Sony Pictures. As part of the deal, the “Jumanji” film franchise is set to be made experienceable in VR.

The franchise is based on the award-winning children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg and was first successfully adapted for the big screen in 1995. More than two decades later, the adventures made a comeback with the film “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017) and once again reached a broad audience. A further theatrical release in the series is scheduled for December this year, providing a fitting point in time for the planned VR experience to tie in.

“This is a dream partnership for us […],” emphasizes Tim Ruse, CEO of Zero Latency VR. “Jumanji is funny, intense, and unpredictable, and is built around the concept of shared adventure. It throws a team into a world that demands curiosity and cooperation. That’s exactly what we do best. We can’t wait to bring players into an epic Jumanji experience where every step feels like you’ve entered the game.”

Further details on the collaboration are to be announced later. What has already been confirmed, however, is that the new Jumanji VR experience is set to launch later this year at Zero Latency VR locations worldwide. ■
