Dolphins and the habitat ‘North Sea’: New Shows at "Dolfinarium"

Dolfinarium, the marine mammal park located in the Netherlands, debuts its new dolphin show “Aqua Bella” this summer after the completion of extensive construction works. As part of the Compagnie des Alpes group, Dolfinarium invested millions to renew the park’s centerpiece, the dolphin theatre “DolfijndoMijn”. True-to-life images are projected on seven large screens – arranged in shape of a whale tail – by means of 3D video mapping technology (also read our special feature about this technology in EAP 3/2013). These images are part of the new half-hourly dolphin show. The large dome of the building was completely renewed and its facades lavishly restored. Another new attraction is the North Sea theme area where visitors can discover the natural treasures of the North Sea. As experience has shown, although or precisely because the North Sea is not so far away for so many in geographical terms, gaps in knowledge on this subject should be filled in an entertaining way … (eap)
