FKF Awards 2022: And the Winners Are …

At the beginning of this month, the 9th FKF Convention of the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks e.V. (FKF for short) took place at Germany’s Heide Park Soltau. About 240 participants from the world of amusement parks and showmen attended the event – the largest presence convention of the association so far. Since 2003, the FKF Award has been presented by the FKF to honor special European innovations of the previous year from amusement parks and showmen. Year after year, the attractions worthy of an award are selected by the almost 1,600 members of the association themselves. The subsequent voting takes place via an internal voting system developed by the association itself, taking into account the individual experiences of those voting.

The Vekoma coaster of the Wildcat type (read also our cover story in EAP 3/2022) convinced the association members with its action-packed, varied and fast-paced layout. The second FKF Award in the category “Park Attraction” went to the dark ride attraction Jumanji® – The Adventure, which has been thrilling guests at the Italian theme park resort Gardaland since  last year.

The third prize winner in the “Mobile/Funfair” category is showman Lutz Köhrmann, who receives it for his ride “Escape – Flight of Fear”. The ride from Dutch company Mondial (type: Escape) convinced the voters with its detailed and loving design. The FKF Awards are planned to be presented personally to the respective winners in the course of the year. (eap)
