Karls Opens Themed Hotel in Saxony – Further Large Investments Planned

Karls-Gründer und -Geschäftsführer Robert Dahl (l. neben Erdbärchen Karl) gab EAP bereits einen Ausblick auf weitere kommende Neuheiten im Erlebnis-Dorf Döbeln.

(eap) Since this past Sunday, the Karls Erlebnis-Dorf in Döbeln, Saxony, has officially been welcoming overnight guests to its first associated accommodation, the “Karls Bande-Hotel”. The thematic design is based on the “Karls Bande” (Engl.: “Karl’s Gang”), a group of characters known from radio plays and animated films, including the park’s mascot bear Karlchen, Prof. Poggy, Hummi and others. The hotel aims to offer families not just a place to stay, but a holistic experience.

Amenities include reversible mattresses, air conditioning, modern bathrooms, as well as digital services such as online check-in and payment, and even the option to communicate directly with the Karls team via WhatsApp. Admission to the adjacent Erlebnis-Dorf is included in the room price.

The musical show “Karlchen und die Magische Fee” (“Karlchen and the Magical Fairy”), developed by a production company from Gothenburg specifically for Karls, is scheduled to be performed four times daily. That same weekend, a new park railway named “LPG Rote Rübe” (a humorous description in German), will also begin operations, transporting hotel guests to breakfast and park guests across the grounds.

In addition, Karls founder and managing director Robert Dahl already has numerous further plans for the Döbeln site. The next project will be a buffet restaurant called “Truskawka” (Polish for “strawberry”), which, according to Dahl, will serve “Eastern European mother’s cuisine”. The restaurant’s entrance area will be staged as an “XXXL strawberry sales stand”, which it is also set to serve as the station for a new family roller coaster of the “Boomerang” type by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma, which is planned for next year, Dahl revealed.

In total, according to Robert Dahl, more than 50 million euros will have been invested in Döbeln then. The offering is set to continue growing – not only in Döbeln, but also at other existing Karls locations. Most recently, the new Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Loxstedt (near Bremerhaven in Northern Germany) opened its doors, featuring the uniquely themed area “PipiKakaLand” as one of its main attractions (cf. EAP News of 15 May 2025). ■
