“Rally Flåklypa”: IP & Details on The New Dark Ride for Hunderfossen
(eap) It has been known that the Norwegian family park Hunderfossen is planning to build a new dark ride for the 2026 season (see EAP 6/2025, p. 100). Now the name and IP of the attraction have also been revealed: “Rally Flåklypa” will be the name of the new ride, which will be based on the film “Flåklypa – fra Paris til Pyramidene”, set to premiere in Norwegian cinemas on December 25. The attraction, which draws on the universe of “Reodor” and his friends, is being built in an existing building of the park and will complement the themed area around the brand, which already includes the roller coaster “Il Tempo Extra Gigante” and the 4D simulator attraction “Reodor Felgens Hyperakselerator” (see EAP 4/2021).
The film by the Oslo-based animation studio Qvisten Animation tells the story of the crazy inventor Reodor. Being expelled from the village of “Flåklypa” for his dangerous creations, he wants to re-establish his status. Together with his friends, a fearless bird and a neurotic hedgehog, they sign up for the legendary “Paris-Dakar rally” to promote their eco-friendly fuel “Methane Rapido Potente”. The fuel is based on “cow-emissions”, and to prove its potential they must win the race. Electric car mogul “Ellen Busk” feels threatened by their invention and sabotages their attempts. In a ferocious and dangerous car race through crowded city streets and hot deserts, our heroes can lose their invention, their friendship and even their lives...
“The story is about David fighting Goliath, it’s about persistence and friendship. It stars honest friends from a tiny Norwegian village who fight against rich and crooked corporate contenders that will do anything to win. Our animation studio develops all movies around this IP, which serves as a basis for this unique media dark ride”, explains Fredrik Kiøsterud, CEO at Qvisten Animation.
While Qvisten is developing all media content for the ride and pre-show, BoldMove Nation is supplying the trackless ride system from Rogue Rides as well as the AV technologies and the theme design. The new “Kamino Show Control System” will be used, integrating image and management technologies, special effects as well as a combined onboard and local sound system.
“At BoldMove, we create unique dark rides by seamlessly blending immersive theming with powerful media technology. When creativity and precision engineering come together, this results in unforgettable experiences. We can’t reveal the full ride dynamics just yet, but we promise it will be worth the wait!” says Anja D’Hondt, co-Founder at BoldMove Nation.
The opening of the new attraction is scheduled for May 2026. ■
