(eap) From 6 to 9 October, professionals from the international water park industry gathered for the 46th Annual Symposium & Trade Show of the World Waterpark Association (WWA) at the Paris Las Vegas Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over four days, the event focused on professional development, networking and the presentation of new products and solutions for the water park industry.
Under the motto “Create Your WWA Show”, the association highlighted four key themes this year: “Collaboration”, “Communication”, “Cultivation” and “Celebration”. An extensive conference programme offered attendees numerous opportunities to exchange knowledge and further develop their expertise. Around 120 industry experts shared their insights and experiences during various educational sessions, covering topics such as safety, operations, maintenance, leadership, marketing, guest experience and technology.
The accompanying trade show also provided a platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening business relationships. Across 100,000 square feet (more than 9,000 square metres) of exhibition space, companies showcased their products, technologies and services – ranging from aquatic play, park and resort design to F&B concepts and operational services. The programme was complemented by numerous networking opportunities, including the Annual Golf Tournament, Welcome Receptions and the Annual Reunion Party.
Another highlight was the WWA General Session on 7 October, during which this year’s industry awards were presented. In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the water park industry, Mike Friscia was inducted into the Hall of Fame, while Heather Hill received the “Al Turner Memorial Commitment to Excellence Award”. Hyia Pruger was also recognised as part of the “Chris Stuart Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program”.
With its “Leading Edge Awards”, the WWA also recognised outstanding projects and innovations within the industry. Among the award-winning projects were the new Aquarabia Qiddiya City water park in Saudi Arabia, the Aquatopia Water Park expansion and the new Aqua Adventure water park in Vietnam as well as the “Summit Canyon” area at Water World Colorado in the US, and the “Surreal” water coaster at Beach Park in Brazil. Among the companies involved in these award-winning projects and also recognised for their contributions were the Canadian manufacturers Waterplay®, WhiteWater and ProSlide Technology.
The next edition of the WWA Symposium & Trade Show is scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 October 2027 in Fort Worth, Texas. ■
